A Dream of Red Mansions is a literary work with profound philosophical thoughts and is a complete tragedy.Compared with many literary tragic works in ancient and modern times,the tragedy of A Dream of Red Mansions has its uniqueness and originality: the comprehensive diversity of "Wan Yan shared sorrow" and "A thousand hong and a cry",the sense of destiny in previous lives,and the sense of eschatology different from other literary works brought by the specific social environment in qing Dynasty.There are many excellent literary tragic works in the history of ancient Chinese literature,which give the soil and nutrition for the growth of "A Dream of Red Mansions"."A Dream of Red Mansions" is the crystallization of the long-term development and deposit of the tragic concept of Traditional Chinese culture.A Dream of Red Mansions contains rich poetry,which is embodied in language,characterization,image and other aspects.The language of "A Dream of Red Mansions" has the refinement of poetry and the beauty of implication,and there are many poems which are consistent with each other’s characteristics and philosophy throughout the whole text,and create a lot of poetic scenes for poetic life.Among them,the most poetic is the grand View Garden,which was established by Cao Xueqin for poetic life to inhabit.The boundary between the two worlds outside the park is clear,but the world inside the park is dependent on the world outside the park.When the external world begins to collapse,the world inside the park also begins to destroy and cease to exist."A Dream of Red Mansions" raises a question about this,since everything becomes empty in the end,is existence still meaningful? What is the meaning of human existence? How to better exist? This is an eternal subject that mankind needs to think deeply about.Cao Xueqin did not give a clear answer of "stop at perfection" like Confucianism,but used the story to explore a possibility.German philosopher Holderlin put forward the ideal of "man,poetically dwelling on the earth",and Heidegger explained this ideal through philosophy.Cao Xueqin established the grand View Garden,a space of all beauty and love,to explore the way of poetic survival in secular life.A Dream of Red Mansions breaks through the limitation of time and space to some extent and is forward-looking in thought and art.It reflects the common purport of human destiny with its philosophical thinking on the value of human existence and its deep attention to the meaning of human existence.This paper attempts to use Holderlin’s philosophy of "poetic dwelling" and Heidegger’s existentialist philosophy to study and analyze a Dream of Red Mansions and explore its philosophical implication and aesthetic realm.
