Reading Chinese as a foreign language has the effect of consolidating target language knowledge,cultivating learners 'sense of language,expanding their vocabulary,and developing reading skills,thereby improving learners' Chinese proficiency.Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' reading ability.The resulting New Chinese Proficiency Test,referred to as The New HSK,is a standardized test of international Chinese proficiency.However,Thai students generally report that the reading part of The New HSK Level 5 is more difficult,and they spend the most time in the reading part,but this part is the most unsatisfactory.Therefore,for the problem of reading comprehension of Thai students,we need to study the problem of improving their reading ability.This article is divided into four parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the current situation of The New HSK Level 5 reading part of Thai students,the purpose of the study,and the literature compiled by the author on the study of Thai students' reading ability.Reading teaching strategies,etc.Finally,the research contents and methods are introduced.The second chapter introduces the new HSK Level 5 content and reading part.It mainly introduces the amount of questions,the timing of the test,and the characteristics of the text of the reading part,including the characteristics of reading subject matter,length,and language.Then investigate the reading results of The New HSK Level 5 test scores for Thai students,and present and analyze the results of the first,second,and third readings in the Thai student answer sheet.The third chapter studies the reasons that affect the reading ability of The New HSK Level 5 of Thai students,and analyzes them from three aspects: the vocabulary and outline coverage of The New HSK Level 5 teachers,Thai students,and textbooks.The fourth chapter puts forward suggestions for teachers,students,and collegeson The New HSK reading level five.By analyzing the source,classification,length of the three parts of the text,and the difficulties and difficulties in the test site,we can provide more targeted suggestions to the teacher;the suggestions to the students are to improve the reading ability from the preparation and examination stages.;The suggestions to the college are to set up more courses on Chinese reading and update the current teaching materials used by the college.
