The Development Of Hangu Zhang Family Since The Late Qing Dynasty

Since the late Qing Dynasty,the Zhang Family at Zhaishang town had gradually become a famous family of Salt industry in Hangu area.The family's assets were all over Tianjin city and Hangu area,and types of its industry involved many fields.Zhang Tinghui,who was the 15 th generation of the Zhang Family,relied on the spirit of pioneering,the steady business philosophy and the management methods as well as the flexible and changeable business strategies to make his family develop into the best Family in Hangu area since the late Qing Dynasty during decades,simultaneously members of Zhang Family became the main force to promote the development of salt industry in Hangu area since the late Qing Dynasty.In addition,the Zhang Family played an important role in promoting the beginning of private education,the birth of the art of Pingju Opera and the development of the local facilities of Clan in Hangu area.The purpose of this thesis is to explore the important influence on the development of salt industry and regional society in Hangu area through the investigation of the history of Zhang family which owned the brand of“Tongyucheng” since the late Qing Dynasty.
