In the era of educational informationization,English teachers in primary and secondary schools develop multimedia teaching resources in a diversified way.At this time,students' effective recognition and acquisition of presented knowledge is a key to develop reading teaching smoothly.Ordinary High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)mentions to add viewing ability to listening,speaking,reading and writing ability.Viewing ability combines comprehension and expressiveness to understand and respond to the text,which is similar to visual literacy proposed by foreign countries.Seeing does not mean understanding.It needs the ability to interpret and express visual information.So it is critical to cultivate students' viewing ability in the face of various resources in senior high school.Based on Gestalt Psychology,Dual Coding Theory,Theory of Multiple Intelligences,Visual Communication Theory and related researches on visual literacy education at home and abroad,the study mainly adopts literature survey,questionnaire survey and experimental method.The research questions in this thesis are as follows.What is the current situation of visual literacy cultivation in English discipline of senior high school? Can the application of integrated reading teaching mode have an impact on the academic performance of students? Can the application of integrated reading teaching mode improve students' reading comprehension?After investigating the current situation of visual literacy cultivation of senior high school students in English discipline,the author has conducted a reading teaching experiment in senior high school.The results of the study showed that students in senior high school have a weak sense of visual literacy and have a certain ability to acquire and interpret visual information,but there is still room for improvement in visual expression;the application of integrated reading teaching mode has no significant effect on students' academic performance;English reading teaching under this mode can improve students' reading comprehension.The study provides reference for visual literacy research and English reading teaching in senior high school.
