As a part of basic education,junior high school is an important stage for teachers to help students to shape a correct world outlook.English teaching,as the subject with the most frequent contact with western ideology and culture,has set up a platform for students to understand the world.The cultural differences between China and the West often cause deviations in students’ reading comprehension.Junior high school English teaching material is the development of students’ English core literacy,the core literacy from the compulsory education English curriculum standard contains cultural consciousness,it refers to the students show cross-cultural consciousness、attitude to learning and personal behavior,its purpose is to cultivate students’ hometown feelings and human destiny community consciousness,better improve personal quality and social responsibility.Based on the above mentioned factors,this paper will carry out a research on cultivating students’ cultural awareness and the English reading literacy via junior middle school English reading teaching.Based on the relevant research results at home and abroad,this paper takes the teachers and students of the Sixth Experimental School of Zao Zhuang City as the research subjects,and uses questionnaire,interview and experimental method to study the following three questions:(1)How is the current situation of English reading literacy of junior high school students?(2)What is the current situation of the cultivation of cultural awareness in English reading teaching in junior high school?(3)What impact will the cultivation of cultural awareness into junior middle school English reading teaching have on the cultivation of students’ English reading literacy?Through the analysis and discussion of the data,it is found that:(1)the reading ability of grade 8 students is better than the reading character quality.Students’ decoding ability and the overall level of Chinese cultural confidence in cultural awareness is the highest.Students’ reading experience and reading habits are at a lower level compared with other factors.(2)As the two main subjects of education,teachers and students both ignore the excellent cultural consciousness at home and abroad.Teachers’ teaching objectives are too utilitarian and have the problem of teaching for achievement;while students pay too much attention to mastering knowledge for higher achievement.(3)The average score of students’ literacy in the experimental class was significantly improved,especially the three dimensions of cultural awareness,reading habits and reading experience.However,the growth of the average literacy score of students in the control class is not quite obvious.Moreover,the comparative analysis of students’ reading comprehension test scores showed that the correlation of the six dimensions of reading literacy and test scores was enhanced.Finally,this paper from teachers,students,teaching methods and extracurricular activities,put forward the junior middle school English reading training students’ cultural consciousness countermeasures and Suggestions,aims to improve students’ English reading literacy,rich cultural consciousness training teaching method,theory and practice,help a line teachers teaching,promote students’ English reading literacy. |
