The report is based on the simulated C-E simultaneous interpreting of the episode Focusing on Community of Shared Future aired in April 2015 from Hot Spot Debate,a program of Shenzhen TV featuring experts' analysis of current affairs. The task of this simultaneous practice is to enable English audiences around the world to gain an in-depth understanding of the concept of “community of shared future” proposed by President Xi Jinping with the assistance of the experts' analysis. In the process of this simultaneous interpreting practice, difficulties with interpreting complex pre-attributives are chiefly manifested as follows:(1)verb phrases as Chinese pre-attributives;(2)subject-predicate sentences as Chinese pre-attributives.Due to the great difference between Chinese and English word order in attributive-head structures, the delayed appearance of the head words in Chinese makes it difficult to interpret Chinese complex pre-attributives directly into the corresponding pre-attributives in English.Suspension of interpreting until the head words appear will not only put great pressure on the interpreter's short-term memory, but also badly interfere with the listening and understanding of the ensuing information unit, which may severely impair the accuracy and fluency of the simultaneous interpreting.According to Gile's Effort Model, simultaneous interpreting is an intense multitask process putting heavy requirements on multiple cognitive efforts, which will fail once one or more efforts are overloaded.Under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model of Simultaneous Interpreting, the causes of the above difficulties are analyzed with examples and the coping tactics are put forward:(1)restructuring and omission are adopted when verb phrases are Chinese pre-attributives;(2)retention plus linearity, anticipation and omission are adopted when subject-predicate sentences are Chinese pre-attributives.On the whole, the interpreter needs to allocate efforts reasonably and tries to transmit the information accurately to the target audience to promote communication instead of keeping to the word order of the source language. The report's study on the difficulties of complex pre-attributives in C-E simultaneous interpreting as well as the coping tactics is expected to contribute to researches in this field and shed some light on the the simultaneous interpreting of Chinese complex pre-attributives.
