This thesis is based on the study of Indonesian and Thai students in Guangzhou,which aims at studying the situation of their intercultural adaptation and social support by surveying 155 Indonesian and Thai students with questionnaires and thoroughly interviewing 6 of them.The research mainly includes the barriers and coping strategies in intercultural adaptation of international students from Indonesia and Thailand in Guangzhou,the characteristics and functions of social support;under the perspective of social support,analyzing the role of social support in intercultural adaptation;then making available suggestions on the intercultural adaptation of international students from Indonesia and Thailand in Guangzhou.The study is divided into the following five parts:The first part is the introduction,which introduces precedent researches on this topic,the purpose,significance,study thoughts and methods of the thesis.The second part is the design and implementation of the questionnaire.The questionnaire consists of two sections.The first section is to investigate the intercultural adaptation and adaptation problems of foreign students from Indonesia and Thailand in Guangzhou,including psychological adaptation,social adaptation,academic adaptation and interpersonal adaptation.The second section is to investigate the social support of international students from Indonesia and Thailand in Guangzhou,including subjective support,objective support,utilization of support,and the relationship between source and type of support.At the same time,through questionnaires to explore the relationship between social support and intercultural adaptation.The third part is the design and implementation of the interview.Interviews as a supplement and further exploration of the questionnaire are of great significance.The semi-structured interview has two purposes.One is to conduct an further analysis of the phenomena and existing problems reflected in the questionnaire through interviews,and to summarize and analyze the characteristics of intercultural adaptation and social support of Indonesian and Thai students in Guangzhou.The others is to add more specific cases of intercultural adaptation difficulties and social support of Indonesian and Thai students in Guangzhou.The fourth part summarizes and deepens the results of the previous surveys and interviews,and proposes detailed countermeasures based on the problems reflected in the surveys and the interviews.The fifth part is the conclusion of this thesis,which summarizes the study results and the direction of further efforts.
