The Japanese version of the 72 Hours series of documentaries faces real life, pays attention to individual destiny and dignity, and shows the life of ordinary people in the secular world. It not only realizes the observation of social reality, but also reflects the unique documentary aesthetics. In recent years, the wave of humanistic documentary creation based on the Japanese version of 72 Hours has gradually emerged in China.Among them,Tencent's self-produced Chinese version of 72 Hours has received wide attention.Compared with Japan's mature production history of ten years, the creation of the Chinese version of 72 Hours is still in a new stage, and inevitably there will be inadequacies in the process of localization. This article takes the documentary of 72 Hours in the two editions of China and Japan as the research object, and comprehensively uses the research methods such as text analysis and comparative analysis to analyze the differences between the two versions of the documentary selection strategy, narrative expression and audiovisual language.Furthermore,it summarizes the shortcomings of the Chinese version at the creative level,in order to provide reference for the creation and development of the documentary humanities documentary in China. The study found that the two editions of the documentary used different material selection strategies, the Chinese version is limited to shooting time and space and the choice of people, the Japanese version pays more attention to social hotspots, good at mining marginal subjects, paying attention to foreign groups, etc.,the selection of materials is more depth and breadth. At the narrative level, the fixed narrative perspective, the constant expression of time and the single narrative structure highlight the narrative ills of the Chinese version of “patterning”.In contrast, the Japanese version of the multi-perspective comprehensive application, diversified narrative structure,a variety of time narrative techniques and other strategies enrich the narrative expression of the film and enhance the visibility of the documentary. In terms of audiovisual language comparison, the Japanese version has both documentary, auditory and montage language expressions, both documentary and artistic. The Chinese version has problems in the use of light and color, the characteristics of narration and the use of montage techniques, such as lack of subjective creative consciousness and lack of artistic appeal. The Japanese version of the excellent creative experience has given the Chinese version improvedenlightenment: First, broaden the selection perspective and strengthen the depth of the topic;second, change the narrative thinking and master the storytelling narrative method;third, optimize the audiovisual aesthetic and enhance the ideological and artistic nature of the film.
