C-E News Translation Practice Report On The 5^th Anniversary Of The Belt And Road Initiative

In the era of globalization,news has become an important bridge for people to transmit,acquire and exchange information.2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.Considering the practical significance and maneuverability of news translation,the author chooses Xinhua News Agency’s long news China Marks the 5th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative issued on August 26 th as the source text for the C-E News Translation Practice Report.This practice report aims to discuss and explore the translation difficulties and methods of C-E news translation by analyzing examples under the guidance of Skopos Theory.From the perspective of syntax,this paper particularly discusses and explore the problems and difficulties in the translation process,such as null-subject sentences,quotation sentences,balanced sentences and parallelism sentences.The purpose of news translation is to transmit information and promote communication.Skopos Theory takes translation as an intercultural communication activity with an specific purpose.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the author pay attention to the differences between Chinese and English,adheres to the principles of translation purpose and reader acceptance priority.Corresponding and practical translation methods like amplification,substitution,omission,conversion,and inversion as well as change of voice are adopted in the translation so as to comply with the reading habits of the target readers and achieve the purpose of news translation as well as promote cultural exchange and information dissemination between China and the West.Finally,the author hopes to show the guiding significance of Skopos Theory to news translation through this practice report,provide reference for translators engaged in news translation,so as to improve the quality of news translation.
