Pioneers in the Zhongguan Cun,written by Ning Ken,was a non-fiction literature. It was told that those talents in science and technology endeavored to startup the business in difficulties. Its Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 I translated introduced Wang Jizhi's designing Chinese Pinyin input method and Wang Xuan's developing Chinese Laser Photo typesetting system.I conducted my translation practice under the guidance of Expectation Horizon Theory which was derived from Reception Aesthetics promoted by H.R.Jauss in 1860 s in Germany. The Reception Aesthetics was reader-centered against the traditional literary theories which focus on author and the source text.“Expectation Horizon Theory” is the core concept of Reception Aesthetics.I strived to understand how the original author deals with the readers' Expectation Horizon, and also develop and meet the target readers' Expectation Horizon with the target text.Only in this way,can Pioneers in the Zhongguan Cun go to the globe and gain popularity in the world. This is a report on C-E translation practice with five chapters based on the translation of “A Promise of Millennium” and “MS-2401”,excerpts of Pioneers in the Zhongguan Cun.Chapter 1 introduces the background information of Source Text(ST)and the writer,non-fiction literature, the framework of Expectation Horizon Theory, and the translation report structure.Chapter 2 illustrates the translation process, including preparation, discussion, revision, and assessment.Chapter 3 lists the difficulties such as the translation terms,culture-loaded words, and long-complex sentences.Chapter 4 proposes the resolution to the difficulties mentioned above and concludes as below: mainly adopting explanation translation and literal translation with annotation to dealing with science and technology terminology words, mainly adopting addition and transliteration with annotation to dealing with Chinese culture-loaded words, mainly adopting reconstruction and combination to dealing with long and complex sentences, and I also use omission and free translation and so on.Chapter 5 mainly summarizes the significance and drawback of my translation practice, and makes positive wishes to the future of translation practice. It was demonstrated in my translation practice report that when it comes to the translation of non-fiction literature,in order to meet the demand of readers, the translator shall not only acquire some professional knowledge about the source text, but also adopt proper translation theory for guidance and appropriate translation methods and skills for practice.
