| Most financial management books focus on providing investment advice,however,You Need A Budget is more focused on guiding people through the budget to get out of debt,planning the life they want,providing a new way of looking at money,summarizing four universally applicable personal financial guidelines.Currently,there isn’t any translation version in China yet.This translation practice report is based on the translation of the first two chapters of the book and discusses the translation of popular English financial texts.The translator analyzes the text type of the book based on Newmark’s Text Typology theory.You Need A Budget is an informative and vocative text.So,the translator often adopts literal translation in order to transmit the original message of the book as accurately as possible.Meanwhile,some popular online buzzwords are used to stimulate readers’ interest and encourage them to think as well as to take actions.Besides,the translator also analyzes the language features of the book.The author of You Need A Budget usually uses colloquialism,and the tone is very funny and humorous.Thus,at lexical level,there are some uncommon collocations;at syntactic level,there are some elliptical sentences,imperative sentences and compound sentences.Then,the translator adopts different translation methods such as amplification,conversion and inversion method accordingly in order to not only retain original features but also to let them easily understood.It is hoped that this report could be of some reference for future similar texts. |
