This translation practice excerpts three chapters from the book Natural Treatments for Tics and Tourette's,written by Sheila Rogers DeMare, the founder of the Association for Comprehensive NeuroTherapy(ACN).The book was published in October,2008.However,this translation project is the first Chinese translation of this book. The book mainly discusses how to alleviate symptoms of Tourette's Syndrome by natural therapies like healthy diet, decontamination and control of the disease sources. The three chapters translated by the translator are relevant clinical studies, therapies and instructions to deal with kinds of problems.Translation of the book has an important social significance for Chinese patients and medical workers in this field.According to this practice, the report introduces the background and significance of the translation and explicates the whole translating process from text analysis,pre-translation preparations to the quality control post translation. The CAT software,Trados, and major search engines have been fully used to collect parallel texts and realize the translation and verification of terms. And the Term Base and Translation Memory have assisted to unify all terms and avoid redundant translation. The report also analyze the key and difficult points in translation. The translation should be not only scientific, but also be readable and popular.Accordingly, the translation has to keep consistency of original stylistic features.Solutions to the key and difficult points are put forward in the Case Analysis and cases are given to make a detailed analysis. Finally,in the conclusion, the report makes a brief summary of the translation experience, hoping to provide certain references for the same type of translation practice.
