Personal pronouns are a type of words that replace the names of the two parties involved in communication and the third party with which they are related(the two parties involved in speech).They are a very important and relatively closed system in language.With the ever-increasing communication between China and Thailand,the number of Chinese language learners in Thailand and Thai language learners in China has increased dramatically,and the comparative study of Chinese and Thai personal pronouns has gradually increased,but the current research results are mainly focused on the Chinese and Thai personal names.A comparative study of the pronoun's semantic function is not yet thorough and comprehensive.There are many aspects of the similarities and differences between Chinese and Thai personal pronouns worth exploring.This article takes Chinese personal pronouns and Thai personal pronouns as research objects.Based on previous studies,it compares the similarities and differences between Chinese and Thai personal pronouns in terms of meaning and function.At the same time,it also uses personal pronouns,appellation nouns to replace personal and discourse.Analyze and compare the Chinese and Thai personal pronouns,and summarize the differences between Chinese and Thai personal pronouns in terms of semantic characteristics,pragmatics and utilization,with a view to providing some help to Thai language learners whose mother tongue is Chinese and Chinese learners whose mother tongue is Thai..The first part mainly expounds the significance of the topic selection,the study of Chinese personal pronouns ontology,the study of Thai personal pronouns,and the comparative research of Chinese and Thai.It also explains the research methods and the structure of the thesis.The second part makes a comparative analysis of Chinese personal pronouns and Thai personal pronouns from the aspects of semantic function and pragmatics.The third part compares the similarities and differences of the special usages of personal pronouns in Chinese and Thai from the aspects of number variation,personal transference,blurring of personal pronouns and tokenization of personal pronouns.The fourth part compares the phenomenon of job appellation nouns,relative appellation nouns,and name appellation nouns replacing personal pronouns in Chinese and Thai,and analyzes the different psychological motivations behind them.Finally,it analyzes and compares Chinese and Thai appellation nouns instead of personal pronouns.Usage in daily conversations.In Thai conversations,the job title appellation noun,name appellation noun,or relative appellation noun will always be used to refer to both parties in communication.This is a common method in daily conversation in Thai,but not in Chinese.In Chinese conversation,personal pronouns are more used to refer to both parties in communication,which reflects the different communication cultures of the two languages.
