An Investigation Of Modern Longkou Import And Export Trade(1915-1931)

Longkou is under the jurisdiction of Huangxian County,and Yantai is located in the East,with superior geographical position.Since modern times,the great powers have set off a craze to carve up China.Japan regards it as a challenger for the interests of Shandong Province.Meanwhile,domestic trade is also developing rapidly.The Beiyang government,on the one hand,decided to open ports and trade in 1915 in order to recover the right of profit;on the other hand,to increase taxes for the development of trade.After the opening of the port,Longkou’s import and export trade,agriculture,industry,etc.had a huge impact,and rapidly grew into one of the six ports in the north.With the help of 《the original materials such as the historical materials of the old customs of China》and《the trade statistics of the modern coastal trading ports in Shandong Province》,this paper investigates the characteristics of the import and export trade,foreign trade,local trade,import and export trade after the opening of Longkou port,and the reasons that affect the import and export trade.The time period of this paper is 1915-1931,to better explore the impact of the opening of Longkou port Impact.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,mainly including the reason to choose the topic and the significance of the topic,research methods,research review,innovation points,key points and shortcomings.The second part is the import and export trade of Longkou after its opening.Mainly from the overall overview of import and export trade,import and export commodity structure analysis to explore the situation of trade after the opening of the port.The thrid part is the analysis of the reasons for the impact of Longkou trade.Mainly from the construction of Longkou commercial port,the establishment of the East customs,natural disasters,backward transportation,political changes and otheraspects of the study,a comprehensive analysis of the reasons for the underdeveloped trade after the opening of Longkou.The fourth part is the trade characteristics of Longkou after its opening and the impact of Longkou port opening trade.The main characteristics of the import and export commodities are few types and mainly based on necessities of life,the majority of import and export commodities come from Japanese goods,and the developed passenger trade.And mainly from the impact on the local and the province’s economy.As a small port at that time,the impact of Longkou port after opening is limited,so this paper focuses on the analysis of the impact on the local.The impact on the economy of the province is mainly analyzed from the aspects of tax revenue and trade volume with Yantai,Qingdao and other ports at that time.
