| This paper first introduces the collection,arrangement,and value of The Black Steed,a folktale collection.Then,we make a systematic explanation of the limits of translatability of folktales by analyzing the Chinese version of The Black Steed.Finally,we illustrate the problems in the process of Chinese into Mongolian translation based on the conclusion of the advantages and disadvantages of the translation,and the methods and skills used in the translation of Mongolian to Chinese.This paper mainly consists of an introduction,main body(three chapters),conclusion,references.The introduction mainly states the research of the reasons of the topic selection,status,innovation,significance,methodology,and text.The first chapter reveals a general situation of the Chinese version of The Black Steed,including the introduction of collectors,translators,and the Chinese version of The Black Steed.The second chapter describes the words of translation in The Black Steed.The Main objects contain nickname,place name,exclamation,proper nouns and the dialect of Alxa.We summarizes the advantages and disadvantages with the comparison between the original and the translational version.Chapter three analyzes the gain and loss in the Chinese version of The Black Steed.Based on the cultural differences between the Mongolian and Chinese,we propose the untranslatability and translatability factors in the Mongolian Chinesetranslation and analyze the translation skills and methods used by the translators in the text with illustrations of typical examples.Finally,we summarize the limits of translatability of folktales by analyzing the case of The Black Steed.And my own experience in translating the remaining stories. |
