Jianghu Writing In Tianjin-style Literature In The New Era

The so-called "Jianghu" is composed of people engaged in certain vocation and profession.They follow exact rules and behavior logic,making a living in society with a number of skills and means that unknown to outsiders.At the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China,Tianjin provided the conditions and circumstances for the survival of the people in Jianghu,and it became an important place for their activities.Tianjin-style literature also described this peculiar social group,which reflected the cultural features of Tianjin at the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China and showed its local customs.In this thesis,the author holds the point that the character image,which emphatically portrayed by Tianjin-style literature novelists such as swordsman and heroes,unique people,neds,female artists as well,jointly constructed the Jianghu genealogy of last Tianjin,the literary imagination as well as the presentation of the Tianjin’s regional characteristics.The thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The main body is divided into four parts.In introduction,according to the viewpoints of several works,the author first summarizes the sociological definition of the Jianghu,then combs the achievements related to this issue in the field of Tianjin-style literature research,and points out the shortcomings.In the third sect of the introduction,the author put forward that the characteristics of Jianghu are secret and peculiar in general,in addition,draw forth four selectiveanalyzed Jianghu characters: swordsman and heroes,unique people,neds,female artists as well.The first chapter of the thesis mainly focuses on the analysis of Jianghu swordsman and heroes.Under the description of Tianjin-style literature novelists,in the current historical political situation of contemporary last Tianjin,these swordsman and heroes throw themselves into the breach to highlights the chivalrous spirits and patriotic feelings.The second chapter analyzes the unique people with stunt in Jianghu and the particular wharf culture of last Tianjin,which stipulate the survival logic of “head to head”,while their pursuit for skill formed their striving for excellence and talents.The novelists also criticize the limitations in their works.The third chapter aims to analyze the neds group in Tianjin-style literature.They present the appearance of both good and evil in works,however,inevitably tending to be flat and symbolic.The fourth chapter emphasize on the analysis of the female artists in Jianghu,who represent the vast vulnerable groups in the last Tianjin society,suffering from bullying and humiliation.Tianjin-style literature novelists’ description of them is full of pity and sympathy.The conclusion part summarizes the full thesis,and further points out that the writing of Tianjin-style literature has a profound significance and positive influence on the literary imagination of last Tianjin.
