Calligraphy And "Media"

Calligraphy is a kind of writing art which uses Chinese characters as the medium to express human emotion through the change of lines.Calligraphy works are the bridge between calligraphers and appreciators.Calligraphy materials are also the link between calligraphers and calligraphy works.This kind of interaction between them is often referred to as media.In our life,newspapers,magazines,televisions and so on are all media,which are the process of transmitting some valuable materials and information to people or things through themselves or related materials.In the biography of Zhang Xingcheng in the old Tang Dynasty,there is "the media must be responsible for the view of ancient and modern employment." Here,the media refers to people or things that can make the two sides have contact and influence.It can be said that media is everywhere in life and art.Due to the large number and limited space of calligraphy "media",the "media" in this paper mainly refers to the pen,ink,paper and inkstone used by Dong Qichang.Nowadays,most calligraphy lovers and many calligraphers only devote themselves to the calligraphy and the structure of the form,ignoring the application and attention to the "medium" of calligraphy,so they can’t express their writing emotion better,and there is no new breakthrough in the style of calligraphy works.Only when we are fully familiar with and use the relevant materials of calligraphy "media",can we make the writing style of calligraphy more diversified and the expression of human emotion more abundant.By analyzing the relationship and influence between calligraphy art and "media",this paper takes Dong Qichang’s calligraphy and his works as an example,which is divided into four chapters,focusing on the importance of calligraphy related "media".The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly analyzes the background and significance of the topic and the current situation at home and abroad;the second chapter is about calligraphy and "media",which mainly describes what is calligraphy,the beauty of calligraphy and the development and influence of calligraphy related "media";the third chapter is about the "media" used in Dong Qichang’s calligraphy works,which explains the influence of "media" on Dong Qichang’s style,The fourth chapter is the summary and reflection.
