Australia is a multi-ethnic immigrant country, and the most prominent cultural feature is cultural diversity. One of the sources of Australian culture is the Aboriginal culture, including the history of Aboriginal people, their "Dreaming" worldview,Aboriginal languages, characteristic vocabulary and unique grammatical structures in Aboriginal English,to name a few.Tens of thousands years ago,the Aborigines came to the mainland of Australia, and after several years of development, they formed their own unique culture. However, with the invasion of European colonists, the Aborigines were gradually deprived of the right of representing Australians.Nonetheless, instead of being extinct, the Aboriginal culture survived in a difficult way. Therefore,in order to make more English readers who are interested in Aboriginal culture understand the history of Aboriginal culture development, this report takes First Australians as the translation text. The selected text is from the fourth chapter of First Australians, which was published by Melbourne University Publishing in 2009.In the book, the authors of each chapter are of Indigenous and immigrants background, including historians, teachers, writers, geographers, language renaissance, activists and environmental researchers.Their various experiences reflected the diversity of Aboriginal life.In the process of translation,it is found that there are a large number of long and complex sentences in the text, which are difficult to understand because of their complex structures.Furthermore,it is found that there are some problems when translating sentences,of long and complicated structures, sentences with inverted word orders, sentences with loose structures and so on.Synchronizing, reversing, cutting and recasting are adopted to solve the problems in texts.Through this text translation practice, the author hopes to provide some methods and references for other translators who are interested in Aboriginal cultures.
