Research And Performance Analysis Of Prokofiev's Piano Arrangement

Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev(1891-1953),a "new man" of the 20 th century,shocked western musicians with his exuberant energy,passionate musical style and disdain for the garish decorations of romanticism.As an outstanding composer,pianist and conductor of the Soviet union,he composed a wide range of works,especially the symphonic fairy tales,ballets and piano arrangements based on musical dramas,which added precious wealth to the music of the 20 th century.The main content of this paper is to explore and analyze the musical style of Op.102 of Cinderella and some difficulties involved in performance.This paper is divided into three parts through the combination of audio and video materials,books,periodicals and magazines and the author's own personal performance experience.The piano adaptation of "Cinderella" Op.102 is based on Prokofiev's eponymous ballet "Cinderella" Op.87.The ballet was so beloved that it was adapted into three piano arrangements,but it preceded ballet music.Unlike the other two adaptations,the Op.102 music of Cinderella depicts the main characters in the fairy tale.Musically,this work has clear melody lines,more compact rhythm,and a strong sense of substitution between players and listeners.
