Translation Report On Wound Ballistics And Surgery From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

As the globalization speeds up,the cross-border academic exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent.More attention is paid to the academic translation of cross-disciplinary works.Wound Ballistics and Surgery is a book that covers two disciplines of physics and physiopathology.It discusses how to treat the injured,how to develop international humanitarian law related to weapons,and the recent criminal investigation on which firearms are used.From the perspective of Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory,the thesis explores the translation of semi-technical words and parentheses in Chapter 6.When translating semi-technical terms,the author identifies the meanings of these words by considering context,collocation,references,and branches of specialties.As for translating parentheses,four methods,namely,keeping the original sentence sequence,restructuring the sentence sequence,putting parentheses in the brackets,and putting parentheses in the front are adopted so as to be reader-oriented and to ensure the complete transmission of information.The report hopes to provide references for parentheses translation and semi-technical words translation.
