The source language material of the translation report is selected from Chapter 9 of Wu Xiaobo's book Ten-year Development of Chinese Enterprises with Great Changes 2008-2018.This book records the ten-year reform history of enterprises in China, presenting the latest performance of China's economy and enterprises. In the process of this C-E translation practice, the translator finds that run-on sentences are widely used in the source language materials. But in English, such loose sentences are not advisable. In view of this problem, after analyzing the definition and features of Chinese run-on sentences, the translator classifies the difficulties into three types in this report: 1)how to translate run-on sentences with implicit logic;2)how to translate run-on sentences with redundant information;3)how to deal with the arrangement of primary and secondary information. As for the difficulties mentioned above, based on Bell's synthesis theory, the translator puts forward some corresponding tactics. This theory advocates that discourse should be treated as a whole schema. Therefore, with semantic analysis and pragmatic knowledge, the translator should not only accurately convey the information of the source text, but take into account the coherence and communicative value of the translation. On this basis, the translator proposes the following tactics: 1)adding cohesive markers and transferring run-on sentences into complex sentences for implicit logic;2)omitting repetition and simplifying expressions for redundant expressions;3)reorganizing information for the arrangement of primary and secondary information. This report aims at discussing the difficulties in translation caused by the characteristicsof Chinese run-on sentences and the coping tactics to deal with them.Through the practice of this translation project, the translator hopes to provide practical guidance and reference for the translation of relevant or similar sentence patterns.
