The primary spoken Chinese textbook is an important reference book for foreign students to learn spoken language.The topic selection,scenario setting and language in the textbook are all transmitted through the characters in the textbook.Therefore,the character role design is an important part of the spoken Chinese textbook.From the perspectives of character design and identity information settings,text topics,scenario setting and language use in spoken Chinese textbooks,this paper chooses two commonly used primary spoken Chinese textbooks,Shortterm spoken Chinese and Conversation 301 Sentences.Through data analysis and related textbook compilation theory,we studied the characters in four textbooks from different perspectives,and analyzed the current situation of persona design in oral textbooks.In addition,the paper makes questionnaires from the teachers and foreign students to collect their opinions about the design of Chinese textbook and character design.This paper puts forward some the following suggestions suggestions on the Chinese textbook character design base on the above data analysis and research:Firstly,the personal information settings are to be complete.The completeness of the character design is a precondition for helping students to learn Chinese conversation.The realistic character image will enable foreign students to have a sense of role substitution during their study and enhance their interest in learning Chinese.Secondly,the communication places of personas should be diversified,and the way of communication should be flexible.Characters can communicate in different social interaction places,which can be a form of question-and-answer,or they can be interactive.At the same time,strengthen the role-player session participation.Appropriately increase the conversational communication of some three personas or multiple personas,reflecting the existence value of the character.Finally,the character language style should be decent.The language of the persona must conform to the identity of the person as well as the background culture,and should be life and colloquial in the use of language.
