| From the 18 th century to the early 20 th century,Western countries’ perception of China mainly came from the "sinology" introduced by early missionaries.After the rise of regional studies in the 1950 s,the United States took advantage of the east wind to become a leader in the study of Chinese studies in Western countries.With the gradual rise of China’s international strength,Sinology research has become an important window for the international community to study China and understand China.Overseas Chinese studies have exerted a political influence that cannot be ignored for other countries in the world to understand China and then formulate policies toward China.The further development of globalization has also made overseas Chinese studies a global science.Since 2017,national authorities have launched exchange activities on the theme of "The Current Development Status,Research Models,and Prospects of Overseas Sinology".The development of overseas Sinology combines China’s actual experience to make China’s own voice,tell excellent Chinese stories,and deepen the impression of a friendly and harmonious world in China.In2014,the United Kingdom won the "Chinese Nobel Prize in Sinology" by revising and publishing the "Chinese History: A New Manual" published by American diplomat and historian Endymion Porter Wilkinson French Julian Award.his set of books has been rated by European and American authoritative sinologists as an indispensable reference tool for graduate students studying Sinology in Europe and America.Since Harvard Press published Wei Genshen’s "The History of Imperial China: A Research Guide" in 1973,this book has been reprinted many times,becoming an important way for European and American academics to understand China.Well-known scholars such as Harvard University Professor Peter Bol,University of Pennsylvania Professor Nathan Sivin,etc.who are engaged in the study of Chinese history highly praise this set of books.In order to understand the important progress and works of Chinese studies abroad,in 2014,after communicating with the author,Peking University Press translated its Chinese History: A New Manual(Fourth Edition)into the "Chinese History Research Manual",and understood it as a graduate student in Chinesehistory.An important reference book for Sinology abroad.This article intends to take Wei Genshen’s Handbook of Chinese History Studies as the core,and compare Wei Genshen’s research on Chinese history with the authoritative reference book of Chinese National Studies,"Chinese History Dictionary" in the perspective of global history.To study and explore the differences and reasons for the recognition of Chinese history and culture between China and the West.On this basis,we explore the academic influence of Wei Genshen’s Chinese history research on breaking the cognitive barrier between China and the West,and the interaction between overseas Chinese studies and China’s development. |
