A Report On The Translation Of The Explosives Regulations,1989 Of Zimbabwe

Literature of Zimbabwe’s explosives industry is composed of safety management regulations as well as documents related to processing technical documents management,including Business Plan for Zimbabwe Explosives Producers(Private)Limited,Memorandum and Articles for Zimbabwe Explosives Producers(Private)Limited,28000t/a Emulsion Explosive Production Line Process Design Scheme,The Explosives Regulations,1989 of Zimbabwe.In terms of The Explosives Regulations,1989 of Zimbabwe,it could be defined as an overview of safety management in the explosive industry and a safety management instrument.This project is translating The Explosives Regulations,1989 of Zimbabwe from English to Chinese.It is about 20,000 words in total for me to complete from August 6,2018 to August 29,2018.I had the opportunity to get this translation task for I worked in Xinjiang Haiheming International Trade Company as a translator.The translation task is composed of eight parts and the words total of each part ranges from 10,000 to 30,000.I am responsible for the translation of The Explosives Regulations,1989 of Zimbabwe.The team for this translation project of Zimbabwe’s explosive industry has its organization of one team leader,four translators and one engineer of professional explosive.Its work schedule is calculated by the week and all members should submit translation progress report accordingly.Relying on the internal data of Xinjiang Haiheming International Trade Company,I did the translation from English to Chinese of explosives regulations of the explosive industry,the quality of which is supervised and controlled by my supervisor,the leader of the translation project team,the professional engineer,and the director of the translation department.Based on the translation practice of The Explosives Regulations,1989 of Zimbabwe of Xinjiang Haiheming International Trade Company,this report analyzes and summarizes translation methods of Civil Explosives Regulations in explosive industry from four aspects:task description,task process,case analysis and conclusion.In this report,I illustrateprofessional knowledge and apply translation tools involved in preparation work of translation from mainly two aspects,including the professional knowledge and technology.Meanwhile,the case analysis has been done from three aspects,namely,lexical,syntax and textual.Finally,a general conclusion has been made concerning the whole practice process from the perspective of self-improvement and experience absorption during the process of translation practice.I wish this report will provide some references and help for translators engaged in explosive industry.
