Wang Niansun did not have a special study on the works of Shi Ming,his research on Shi Ming mainly focused on Guang Ya Shu Zheng.According to statistics,Guang Ya Shu Zheng quotes 467 items of Shi Ming,this items discusse wang nian sun's understanding of Shi Ming,including the collation of Shi Ming,the inheritance and development of the voice gloss of Shi Ming,and the negation of the specific voice gloss items of Shi Ming.In addition,wang niansun's deep exploration of etymology is based on the principle of "The search for meaning in terms of ancient sounds refers to the principle of extending from one thing to the same thing,without limiting the glyph".Shi Ming is the representative work of voice gloss in the late han dynasty,Shi Ming is the beginning of etymology and the source of the theory of "meanings from sound" in Guang Ya Shu Zheng.Since Ming dynasty,some scholars begin to use voice gloss' s mistake to criticize the method of voice gloss,but Wang niansun,a firm believer in exegesis,recognized the mistake of Shi Ming,he has pointed out and corrected the mistakes in Guang Ya Shu Zheng,but he did not deny the Shi Ming,he pay more attention to the concept of "meanings from sound".The purpose of this paper is explain the theoretical origin of wang niansun's "meanings from sound" and point out his position in the history of the study,according to "Shi Ming" by quoting from Guang Ya Shu Zheng.
