An Analysis Of Restoration And Protection Of Fragile Bronzes Unearthed From Han Tombs In Hepu, Guangxi

Guangxi Hepu,one of the ports of origin of Lingnan Maritime Silk Road in Qin and Han Dynasties,has left a rich cultural heritage of Han Dynasty.Due to many factors,such as burial environment and post-earthed preservation conditions,the bronzes unearthed from Han Tombs group in Hepu are in poor state of preservation.Most of the bronzes are mineralized,severely broken and deformed,and there is a risk of further deterioration.Therefore,it is in urgent need of repairation and protection.However,most of the traditional restoration and protection techniques are not applicable to the restoration and protection of fragile bronze-ware.In view of the above problems,the paper systematically expounds the restoration and protection process of the artefacts through the comprehensive and systematic investigation and analysis in the early stage,taking the fragile bronzes unearthed from Han Tombs group in Hepu,Guangxi as the research object.By combining theory with demonstration,the author analyzed the bronze pot(implements number87 or attached M22:17 the 15),bronze pot(implements no.87 and M15:24 the 22),bronze pot(implements no.87 in M9:3 the 3),the restoration of incomplete bronze ware without reference and the protection of some special preservation state objects,etc.The author also carried out the concept and principle of cultural relic restoration and protection in practice.Finally,the study achieved good results.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Most of the fragilemineralization of bronzes unearthed from Han tombs in Hepu may be caused by the fact that the buried environment of the bronzes is close to the sea,combined with the abundant rain in Hepu area,the warm and humid climate,and the basically acidic soil.(2)In the traditional remediation technologies,most of the kind of fragile bronzes are not applicable to the case,using for reference the dental model paraffin as a double mould material,shape and rolling over to carved oil sludge as material,scraper roulette modelling,acid free art paper tape and label paper as support material,fill with repair of good repair effects are obtained.(3)A new method is found to use alcohol solution as a leveling method for epoxy resin materials.(4)Through the practical exploration of the understanding of the current conservation philosophy and principles of cultural relics through the restoration of broken bronzes.(5)The study provides a case reference for the academic circle.
