During the Chiniese ancient paintings and calligraphies handed down to generations, some mildew, stains, moth-eaten spots, bite marks of mouse, decays and fractures and so on will be caused by the age and improper collectiion and storage, which will influence the artistic values if no timely restoration. So it is an urgent task for the museums to restore and protect the collection paintings and calligraphies. The author is a professional staff of mounting and restoration the paintings and calligraphies in the Jicuiyuan museum and has the peculiar qualification of study, after many years work, who had known well the collection paintings and calligraphies and accumalated some experience. So in the forthcoming 20th anniverary of Jicuiyuan museum, taking the collection paintings and calligraphies of Jicuiyuan museum as the research object, based on the comprehensive research on the collection paintings and calligraphies, starting with the special geographical environment of Fujian, the author managed to analyze the major factors that caused the ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphies damaged from the restoration and protection. Hope the paper can produce some useful advice for a better preserving environment to the precious paintings and calligraphies in order to prolong the artistic life and value.
