The Renovation of Zen Temples is a documentary album about the reconstruction of the Zen temples in Yichun compiled by the Buddhist Association of Yichun.Yichun enjoys a profound historical and cultural accumulation and a long history of Buddhist culture.And the President of the Municipal Buddhist Association Miao'an proposed to use “The Renovation of Zen Temples” to focus on the reconstruction from 2004 to2014 of the Zen ancestral halls and temples in Yichun,which enjoys a significant impact on Zen history.The Renovation of Zen Temples is a popular documentary album involving religions,which introduces the development of Yichun's Zen culture in easy-to-understand language,and shows the modern development of Yichun Zen thought of “human Buddhism” and “Zen's way of life”.Relying on Yichun's Buddhist culture,the album combines Buddhist architectural culture,Buddhist art culture,Buddhist atmosphere and Buddhist activities to show the beautiful scenery,cultural relics and historical sites,while also embodying the profound Chinese culture.Translating Zen materials,can promote the publicity of Buddhist tourist attractions,contribute to the promotion of Chinese traditional culture and Buddhist culture,and help the target language readers have a preliminary understanding of Chinese Zen culture.When you are interested,you can appreciate the essence of Chinese Buddhist culture and its artistic charm,understand the truths of Zen's way of life,experience the comfortable Zen's way of life,and integrate the wisdom and spirit of Zen into life.This thesis makes use of Newmark's theory of communicative translation to analyze the translated version of The Renovation of Zen Temples.In order to meet the habits of the target language as much as possible,the translator made a list of some common problems existing in translation and summarized main difficulties like translation of architectures,Zen activities as well as Chinese poetry quotations and so on.She try to find appropriate translation methods and strategies to solve these problems,such as combination of translation and free translation,transliteration in the five cases with annotation and so on to cope with difficulties on lexical level,syntactical level and cultural level.In a word,the thesis is a good attempt for discussing the implementation of some common translation strategies in the translation of The Renovation of Zen Temples based on Newmark's communicativetranslation,and it testifies the important guiding role of the theory in translation of tourism text.And after this translation practice,she found that to do a good job in Zen culture translation,we must not only master the theoretical foundation and translation skills,but also have a deep understanding of Zen culture.Last but not least,she puts forward personal views on the translation of Zen cultural tourism texts and related research in the future.
