Self-knowledge refers to someone's knowledge of their own mental state, including current feelings, emotions, beliefs, etc. The characteristic of self-knowledge is the priority of epistemology.Compared with other types of knowledge,self-knowledge is more reliable. This particularity of self-knowledge is also known as first-person authority, and "I" have the cognitive privilege of the current state of mind. The key to self-knowledge is how to achieve first-person authority. As a major representative of Neo-Expressivism,which is a theory of selfknowledge,Dorit Bar-On takes her core philosophy is that accommodating epistemic unparelle and semantic continuity in an avowal.Epistemic unparelle exsists between the first-person expression and the third-person report, and semantic continuity means the two propositons is truth-equal.Avowal is a special approach to achive selfknowledge,it can coordinate both.To be specific, avowal is a concept from Simple Expressivism.Bar-On inherits to develop avowal as a expressive act and as a expressive product simultaneously.Unlike Simple Expressivism, this means avowal can give vent to mental state of subject, and it's truth-aptness.The reasons are two: the first one is that avowal can be self-ascribed directly without recogniazing concept of mental states,so that it can immune error through misidentification. The second one is that avowal is true means the avower is under the condition of the subject's,“I am in M” is my being in M,it offers a special and non-recognitional judgement for avowal to have cognitive suceess.Bar-On's Neo-Expressivism theory attempts to transcend traditional epstemic approach and Expressivism. It advocates that when subject directly expresses oneself, she insists the reality or objectivity of the mental state exsists.Although NeoExpressivism theory faces different criticism, especially the legality as a theory of selfknowledge,it provides a new way of thinking for self-knowledge.
