The Study On Mencius Monograph In The Republic Of China

The “Mencius” study refers to the academic research on “Mencius”,which covers the author of the book “Mencius” and the book's date of writing,the source of the version,the exegesis of the sentence,and the interpretation of the meaning.The study of “Mencius” during the Republic of China showed a colorful situation in the context of the conflict between Chinese and Western studies.This article selects some representative monographs on the study of “Mencius” in the Republic of China.It's based on a case study to explore the author's education background,the process of writing,and the content and characteristics of the writing.This article strives to present in detail the basic context and development of the study of “Mencius” in the Republic of China and try to explore the two-way interactive relationship between “Mencius” and the social situation and academic background at that time.The paper divides the research orientation of “Mencius” in the Republic of China into four types,namely the textual research level,the lexicon level,the philosophical level,and the comprehensive research.By analyzing the essence,characteristics and prominent research problems of these four different research paths,we can comprehensively review the general situation and historical outlook of the study of “Mencius” in the Republic of China.The first chapter of this article is an overview of the development of “Mencius” in the Republic of China.It takes a holistic view of the study of Mencius from the era and academic background of the Republic of China,so as to clarify its development characteristics.The second and third chapters respectively select four monographs of “Mencius”,which are Luo Genze's “Mencius Biography”,Wu Kaisheng's “Mencius Grammar Reader”,Qian Mu's “Mencius Essentials”,Wang Enyang's “Mencius Shuyi”,and explore the study of “Mencius” at that time in terms of textual research,literature,and thought.The purpose is to clarify the comprehensive understanding of Mencius and his books at that time,and the significance of the reconstruction and reinterpretation of the text of “Mencius” at that time.The fourth chapter is the research on the comprehensive works of “Mencius” study in the Republic of China.It includes two books,Lang Qingxiao 's “Mencius Case” and Yao Yonggai 's “Mencius Lecture Notes”.From the perspective of the study case and lectures,it has a general understanding of the research context of “Mencius”,and can analyze the comprehensive research characteristics outside the tendency of the disciplinary research of “Mencius” at that time.The conclusion part comprehensively discusses the development of the research on “Mencius” in the Republic of China.In general,the “Mencius” study in the Republic of China shows the characteristics of emphasizing the practical use of aid to the West and Confucianism,multi-angle reconstruction and re-interpretation,and comprehensive research in the form of textbook reading,which fully reflects the mixedness of Chinese and Western research methods when the old and the new are changed.
