| There have been a lot of studies on the novels of Tang dynasty.Since the 21 st century,many researchers have started to pay attention to the image of animals in the Tang novels.For example,there are dragons,tigers,foxes and other animals with high frequency in the Tang dynasty novels.The image of tiger in the novels of Tang dynasty is closely related to the traditional Chinese tiger culture.As a sacred beast worshiped by people,it symbolizes authority and inviolability.The image of tiger in the novels of Tang dynasty can be divided into natural tiger,semi-human and semi-animal tiger,and humanoid tiger in its complete form.In the novels of the Tang dynasty,the narrative function of the tiger image played a role in creating the atmosphere,promoting the development of the story plot and playing the "core role".These tiger images change with time from "animal" to "human",from "ordinary" to "supernatural" characteristics.In addition,the social customs and religious thoughts of the tang people also influenced the theme and description of tang novels and later novels.By analyzing the tiger images in tang novels from the two aspects of description technique and narrative function,we can find that the artistic features in these modern novels have also been fully reflected in tang novels. |
