There are abundant animal novels in the literatures of Tang dynasty, but researchists seldom pay close attention to it. The number of papers is scarce and the discussions on tiger novels concentrate on a narrow field to a great degree, or some pay more attentions to its folk features than its literary features, so I choose tiger novels in Tang dynasty and research its literary features. At first, this text put the development of tiger novels before Tang dynasty in order, and analyse it in every stage. Secondly, this text discusses the origins of the tiger novels' prosperity in Tang dynasty from two aspects. The realitical reasons are tiger's enormous exists, the prosperity of Tang dynasty, the affections of Anshi upheaval, the telling story in feast, the changes of XingJuan and WenJuan ethos and so on. The ideological reasons reduce to the remains of totem ideology and the development of aesthetic. Moreover, this text researches the image characters of tiger novels in Tang dynasty. Tiger images' main characters are hardness and straightness. Sometimes there are heavyhearted or culculating or careful or tame. Tiger's image also have various appearances, each of which has different features.
