"Gesture" is an important concept in the philosophy of Giorgio Agamben. It runs through many fields of Agamben's research and ends up as the core of his literary theory."Gesture" in Agamben here, pointing to the part of life that cannot be expressed, such as one of the beautiful women, smiles, there are thousands of charms. It is the expression of "none",or is not directly expressed, through this expression of "none" can open up the space of thought. It means a potentiality to stimulate thought, returning spiritual activity to thinking and self-determination itself."Gesture" was valued by Agamben in the context of human being over-captured,expropriated,and spoken. As a solution,it points to a kind of resistance that actively puts life into the ineffable subject. This resistance demonstrates the impossibility of life being deviceized. As far as the current research situation of Agamben is concerned, the focus of the academic circles is mostly focused on its political philosophy. In contrast, his literary thoughts, although gradually began to enter the field of research of some researchers in recent years, but in general,a relatively complete research system has not yet been formed. There are few in-depth and systematic studies on the idea of "Gesture".In response to this situation, this paper aims to clarify the ideological context of Agamben's "Gesture" theory.Firstly, starting from the conceptual background, the meaning of "Gesture" is explored.Secondly, the "Gesture" is placed in the field of image research in Agamben to explore its deep meaning. On this basis, discuss the connotation of the author's gesture, explain how the author is present in the literature. Finally,I try to draw on Agamben's unique "contemporary" perspective and look forward to the prospect of literary criticism.
