Jiangsu College Entrance Examination requires more and more senior high school students to read.Reading teaching has become the most important part of senior high school English teaching.Senior high school English textbooks are the most direct and important reading materials for students to contact,and they are also the tools for teachers to teach.Therefore,the quality of textbooks has a certain impact on the quality of English reading teaching.The authenticity of materials must be guaranteed when compiling a set of high-quality textbooks with authentic and accurate language.This study is based on the Advance with English.It mainly adopts the methods of literature research and case study.It focuses on four perspectives: the materials selected in the textbook involves real-life topics;the reasons that affect the authenticity of the reading materials selected in the textbook;the significance of materials authenticity in students' English learning;and the effect of materials authenticity research on future English textbook compilation.The study finds that teachers and students have a high overall evaluation of Advance with English reading materials,and the choice of language materials can basically meet students' reading needs,but the topics derived from real life in the textbooks are limited.The main reasons that affect the authenticity of materials are the negative transfer of mother tongue thinking and the differences between Chinese and foreign cultures.In the compilation of English textbooks in the future,we should try our best to use foreign original materials and update the information in time,and look at the textbooks from the perspective of development.There are eight chapters in this paper.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly discusses the research background,purpose and significance of this topic.Chapter two is literature review,which mainly refers to and collates relevant literature to show the current situation of authenticity research on reading corpus at home and abroad.Chapter three makes a detailed investigation and analysis of the authenticity of the reading materials in the Advance with English.Chapter Four considers the factors of the lack of authenticity of reading materials.Chapter Five explores the important influence of authentic reading materials on English teaching and learning.Chapter Six puts forward some suggestions on the implementation of reading corpus.The seventh chapter puts forward suggestions for the compilation and improvement of textbooks through the findings of the study.The eighth chapter is the conclusion,which is a summary of this study.
