"Nine parts and three parts of the tongue, running through the ages and five vehicles of books",Cantonese storytelling, commonly known as "telling the ancients",is a southern school storytelling art that re creates and delivers novels, folk legends, stories and anecdotes in Cantonese dialect. It has far-reaching influence in Guangdong,Hong Kong,Macao and even Southeast Asia, with unique Cantonese cultural value and Cantonese education value.Under the current new media environment, the change of media form has had multiple impacts on its development and changes. The once popular Cantonese speaking ancient times is facing the dilemma of breaking and losing its transmission.Cantonese speaking ancient is the epitome of endangered folk oral performance art.As one of the important birthplaces and central areas of Cantonese speaking ancient,Guangzhou has outstanding "specimen" significance. This paper focuses on the ancient Cantonese speaking in Guangzhou and its development from the perspective of media change, which is of great significance to the conservation of ancient Cantonese speaking and other endangered folk oral performance art styles. In order to achieve the above goals, this paper, based on the literature analysis, through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, case studies and comparative studies.Due to the natural audio-visual attribute of Cantonese speaking ancient,Guangzhou Cantonese speaking ancient is divided into four development stages based on the media form. This paper makes a diachronic summary of the ancient speaking characteristics of different media stages, and considers the survival and development of Cantonese speaking ancient from the perspective of the audience. This paper analyzes and inspects it from the following four parts:The first chapter is about the period of the book circle.Through the analysis of the different ancient performance spaces in Guangzhou, such as the open street stall, caoliao and teahouse,it analyzes the communication characteristics of the two-way interaction between "ancient teller" and "ancient fan",and reveals the commercial characteristics of the oral Art "fan culture".In the second chapter, the rapid development of Guangzhou Radio Industry laid the foundation for the rise of radio talk about the ancient. The audience changed from face-to-face participation and watching to "listening to the ancient".The professional performance of sound became the communication characteristics of the radio period.Talk about the ancient began from the group of Caotai to the hall of elegance, and the professional "academic" talk about the ancient began to appear. At the same time, the establishment of Guangzhou storytelling society,on the one hand, promoted the unprecedented prosperity of ancient Cantonese speaking in Guangzhou, but on the other hand,it gradually separated the folk art from the folk soil, which also laid the foundation for the decline of ancient speaking later.Under the joint action of storytelling society and radio,Cantonese ancient speaking has been developing towards specialization. The third chapter is the television period, the audience from "listen to the ancient" to "see the ancient".The fusion of Cantonese TV programs and ancient speaking has given birth to three new forms of programs: "reappearance" traditional TV programs in the field of books, symbolic TV programs of "telling the ancients" and Guangzhou TV programs created by talking books. On the one hand, the audio-visual characteristics of TV media make the "real scene bookstore" reappear;on the other hand, with the help of TV media, the communication scope of Cantonese speaking of ancient times is further expanded, but the audience rating replaces the "ticketman culture" in the grassroots era, which determines the fate and trend of speaking of ancient times. The fourth chapter discusses the evolution and adjustment of Cantonese speaking in Guangzhou in the new media era.The results of investigation and interview show that Cantonese speaking in ancient Guangzhou is limited by dialects and regions, the creation of talk books lags behind, the promotion is insufficient, and the consumption gap,but at the same time, there are also new vitality, such as the new media provides a platform for the ancient speakers, and the ancient speakers become the anchor, etc. Therefore, the article puts forward suggestions for future development: the IP based Cantonese speaking in ancient times, especially the creation of "ancient speakers" The originality and teamwork of the script, the possibility of ancient speaking as information transmission and emotional connection, online and offline linkage to attract and change the audience's acceptance paradigm, etc. The case of ancient Cantonese speaking in Guangzhou provides a lot of inspiration for the spread and development of other folk arts.Folk oral art can not be separated from the soil of folk life, maintain interaction with the folk, but also adapt to the changes of media environment and make corresponding adjustments.
