With the rise of Chinese art education in the early 20 th century,Wuchang Art College,the first art college in Hubei,was born in 1920.From the beginning of the founding of the grassroots,the founders had the ideal of rejuvenating the country with beauty and art,insisting on a series of progressive teaching ideas,and in 1930,the school ushered in the peak of development,and hired a group of artists with a background in studying abroad and famous scholars to teach at the school.Created the school's diverse artistic style and high academic level.During the Anti-Japanese War,due to the bombing of the school by the Japanese army,the Wuchang Art College was forced to move west to Jiangjin,Sichuan,and insisted on running the school.Although the teaching and living environment was extremely difficult,this private school was repeatedly destroyed without being destroyed.Facing the national crisis,adhere to cultural dissemination,adhere to art education,not only cultivated a large number of talents for the Southwest,but also preserved the lifeblood of Hubei's art education career,and finally returned from Jiangjin to Wuhan in 1946.This development process can reflect the development of China's early art education institutions.Therefore,by combing the process of the generation and development of Wuchang Art College to a gradually systematic process,we explore the educational thoughts and effects of Wuchang Art College.First of all,the article sorts out the historical facts of the course development of Wuchang Art College,analyzes the course goals set by Wuchang Art College in the development process and the classification of course settings,explores the course content and sources of different development stages of Wuchang Art College,and obtains The following conclusions: The course content of Wuchang Art College draws on foreign art colleges such as Japan and France,which effectively imitates the domestic art colleges of the same period,and also has innovative course content based on local innovation.Secondly,the analysis of Wuchang Art College's teaching methods,teachers and theconstruction of the campus environment is the guarantee for the smooth implementation of the course.Attaching importance to practical art education and war history painting teaching are two innovations in its course development.Thirdly,starting from the assessment method of student performance,exploring the relationship between its course content and talent training,summing up the teaching effect of Wuchang Art College,and finally showing the contribution of Wuchang Art College to China's early art education.The profound cultural heritage has continued to today's Hubei Institude of Fine Arts,which has a profound impact on the development of art education in central China.
