A Study Of Character Usages Of Mawangdui Bamboos And Silks Literature

In 1970 s,Han Tomb of Mawangdui was dug in Changsha,Hunan Province.The Hunan Provincial Museum found a great quantity of silk books and bamboo slips concerned with substantial content such as history,medicine,ancient books and records.This paper is based on those silk books and bamboo slips and aims to discuss the habit of using Chinese characters when someone recorded a word in early Han dynasty.We tallied the number of phonetic loan characters by Han Tomb of Mawangdui Database and try to conclude their distinguishing features.The first chapter is the introduction of this paper.The first part shows the basic facts of Han Tomb of Mawangdui and the main contents,writing times and other relevant information of silk books and bamboo slips.The second part is the summary of current research status about words and phrases,grammar and the habit of using Chinese characters.The third part explains the research scope,research purpose and significance of this paper.The second chapter started on a macro perspective and regards all silk books and bamboo slips unearthed in the Han Tomb of Mawangdui as a whole.The first part is based on the data.We try to find the general feature as well as distinguishing feature of different kinds of materials.The second part discusses the fact that writers used various kinds of phonetic loan characters to record the same word.The third part focuses on the fact that there were various kinds of phonetic loan characters in the same document.The third chapter deals with some special habits of using Chinese characters.The first part focuses on the habit of using Chinese characters of some typical words which only appeared in these silk books and bamboo slips.The second part focuses on the special habit of using Chinese characters of words which also appeared in other unearthed materials in Han Seal.The forth chapter deals with the habit of using Chinese characters of some common words which also appeared in unearthed materials in Qin Seal or Han Seal.The first part discusses those words that were recorded by phonetic loan characters while the second part discusses words that were recorded by both original characters and phonetic loan characters.In this chapter we regard unearthed materials in Qin Seal or Han Seal as compare groups and try to study how and why the habit of using Chinese characters changed.The last chapter aims to discuss internal differences of habit of using Chinese characters.The first part discusses differences between two versions of Laozi.The second part discusses regular differences in Book of Warring-States Strategic Advisors.We attempt to find their characteristic and the cause of these differences.
