Language teaching and cultural communication institutions such as the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute have played an increasingly important role in the education system of today's world since their birth,and have become an important institution providing foreign language and second language teaching.Based on Jean-Marc Defays' “foreign and second language learning and study” theory,under the macro-background of culture communication system,this paper takes the main functional linguistic teaching and cultural dissemination of the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute as the research object,and takes the Shanghai French Alliance and the Confucius Institute in Quebec as typical cases.A hybrid research method combining documents,interviews and questionnaires to explore the issues of language and cultural exportation in the French Alliance and in the Confucius Institute.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the different effects of different output methods starting from the specific links of persons,courses and activities of the two specific institutions,and to provide corresponding suggestions for the development of the Confucius Institute.The central question to be explored in this study is : What is the merit of the French Alliance in exporting its language and culture ? What kind of advantage can be learnt from it by the Confucius Institute ?This study will explore three specific issues :1.How does the basic institution of the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute affect the exportion of language and culture ?2.Foreign language teaching,as an explicit exportation,what kind of teachers,teaching materials,and teaching methods will make it easier for the country to accept the language and idea of the sending country ?3.International cultural communication,as an inplict exportation,how can thesimilarities and differences between the types of activities and the methods of communication change the perceptions of the residents of the accepting country and cope with the challenges in a subtle way ?The main contents of this study include the following five parts :The first chapter explains the research purpose of this article through the elaboration of the research background,traces the research content of previous articles through literature review,proposes the research scope and research methods,and summarizes the innovative significance of this study.The second chapter proves the rationality and legitimacy of the case selection of the Confucius Institute in Quebec and the Shanghai French Alliance through an overview of the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute,an explanation of the basis for case selection,and an introduction to the theory of “foreign and second language learning and study”.The third chapter explores the inherent logical relationship from the combing of teachers,students,teaching materials,curriculum and teaching methods.The fourth chapter explores the opportunities and challenges in operation from the differences between cultural activities and communication methods.The fifth chapter starts from the phenomena and related relations in the research,clarifies the research conclusions and makes recommendations.Based on the research conclusions obtained in this paper,the research puts forward corresponding suggestions for existing problems,including the following three aspects :1.In view of the special relationship between teachers and students in language teaching and cultural communication institutions,as well as the current status of teachers in the French Alliance and Confucius Institute,this study puts forward suggestions for the optimization of the teaching staff under the guidance of student groups;2.In view of the differences in the principles of textbook compilation and evaluation system,on the basis of analysis of the pros and cons of the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute,the competitiveness of textbooks and suggestions for improving textbooks will be improved;3.Based on the basic principles of cultural communication,compare comprehensively the current methods and experiences of the French Alliance and the Confucius Institute in cultural output,and put forward suggestions to promote the acceptance of cultural communication.
