A Study On Chinese Athologies By The Eight Banners Female Writers

In the female literature of Qing Dynasty,the Eight Banners female literature is a very special existence.It not only records the living conditions of an exceptional group of women in poetry but also shows the writing perspectives and styles of Eight Banners women writers,which are very different from those of general women writers.The Eight Banners female literature has its unique value.However,restricted by insufficient organization and study of the basic literature,it has been difficult to carry out practical research in this field.From the perspective of philology,this paper,for the first time,makes a systematic investigation on the group of the Eight Banners women writers and the Chinese anthologies of Eight banners literature in Qing Dynasty,aiming to provide detailed and valid information for in-depth and comprehensive studies on Eight Banners female literature in the future.First,this paper comprehensively presents the Eight Banner women writers works and the scale of anthologies by Eight Banners women writers in Qing Dynasty.It is found that there are 99 Eight Banners women writers recorded in the existing documents.59 of the writers have63 anthologies with some of them creating more than one work,which shows the general size of Eight Banners women writers in Qing Dynasty.32 of the anthologies are found in National Library and other university libraries.31 of them remain unfound from the influential bibliographies or e-book platforms.They might get scattered and disappeared.This paper has a statistical analysis of the publishing time,the edition,and existing condition of works by Eight Banner women writers.After studying the existing works,the paper summarizes their basic characteristics: most of the anthologies are small in amount,and the number of works included is limited;most of the writers have high social status,although their distribution in banners is uneven;the poetrycollecting mainly depends on the power of the family;the publication of the works is focused on certain times,and the anthologies are not widely spread.Second,this paper makes a description of the 25 Chinese anthologies by the Eight Banners women writers that are currently available.This paper summarizes the authors' life and main deeds,inspects the version of the works and makes a detailed description,and generally introduces the scale,theme,content and main features of each anthology,which show specifically the conditions of the preserved works.Third,based on literature research,the value of the Chinese anthologies by the Eight Banners female writers is discussed.It records the life and creation conditions of the Eight Banners female writers in detail,which is of literary value;the Chinese anthologies by the Eight Banners female writers can be used to collate all kinds of Qing poetry anthologies,displaying comprehensive and accurate literature information,which is of collation value;Chinese anthologies by the Eight Banners female writers show the living condition and ideology of the Eight Banners female writers,which is of sociological value.
