As the significant trouble of American,the gangs of New York rose firstly in the late19 th century and now they have even become a growing industry.With multiple background and reason,gang rose in New York,such as,with the acceleration of industrialization,large-scale building canals,railway and other transportation facilities,commercial developed rapid.New York went into the gilded age of accelerated economic growth,but at the same time there was the diversification of social class,points of deepening: poor scale,poor problem aggravated;The influx of immigrants and the inability of municipalities to deal with the growing problem of subsistence employment;When immigrants of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds entered the melting pot of New York,they were bound to experience a long period of pain in the process of assimilation,so a series of negative social problems were inevitably.During this period,the rise of gangs in the bottom society became a typical phenomenon.The New York gangs of the rising period were diverse.Whether it was from the gang practices engaged in,the region,or the race,studies could be divided into different divisions and belonging.But the various types were not absolutely distinct,there were a lot of overlap and crossover.In this paper,they were classified into four categories.The first was the Irish immigrant gangs represented by the immigrant gangs.In order to survive and resist,immigrant groups formed a group of influential gangs after entering New York.The second group was the nativist gangs represented by The Bowery Boys,who were staunch nativist supporters,and the immigrant gangs.The third was the gangs of robbers;The last was the gangs of street thugs,many of whom were key leaders in the second wave of New York gangsters in the 1920 s and 1930 s.Gangs up to New York society added many unsteady factors: The fight between the gangs represented by The Dead Rabbit Riot,a rebellion against a conscription law,the collusion between the government and the gangs...All of this cased a shadow over NewYork,the international metropolis,having a profound impact on the development of gangs of New York and even throughout the United States.At the same time,the government's efforts to control the ecology of the gangs and combat the activities of the gangs had never stopped,which also provided a certain reference for other countries' urban governance.
