As one of the important ways to learn calligraphy,engraved post plays an important role in the history of Chinese calligraphy,since the birth of the engravings,it has been closely connected with the history of Chinese calligraphy and they are interdependent with each other.Carvings in the history of calligraphy experienced three great heydays,the song,Ming and Qing.In the Qing dynasty,the engravings became more mature after the Song and Ming dynasties,and produced a large number of model calligraphy works which influenced the later generations.“Lianchi Academy Calligraphy” was formed at the 10 th year of Emperor Daoguang,Qing dynasty(1830),the Governor of Zhili Na Yancheng ordered people to engrave his calligraphy collections since Tang dynasty on stone tablets,there were six volumes,fifty-one stones in all.Based on the original printed copy of “Lianchi Academy Calligraphy” published by Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House as the main document,this paper attempts to make a systematic study of “Lianchi Academy Calligraphy” by combining with field investigation and sorting out relevant documents.At the same time,I pay attention to the style of Na Yancheng's calligraphy,carefully inspect his life,style of calligraphy,his collections,and analyze the characteristics of his style of calligraphy and the reasons for its formation.Secondly,the general situation of the engraving and the background of the printing are investigated and discussed.Finally,this paper discusses the problems in the historical records and the selection of this model calligraphy.
