| The World Skills Competition is the highest level of professional vocational skills in the world. Its competitive level represents the world’s advanced level of professional skills development in its field.Players who can participate in the World Skills Competition already have a high level of skills.Players with good mental state have a greater chance of achieving a better position in the competition.Concerns about current or anticipated potential threatening competition situations are called competition anxiety. There are times when anxiety is unavoidable in major event activities, but not every anxious player must perform well in the game. This suggests that some protective factors may play a positive role in it.Previous studies have found that players with higher levels have better resilience.Resilience refers to an individual’s good adaptation to threats, trauma, adversity,or other major stresses in life. Therefore, this research hopes to understand the psychological state of the players before the45 th World Skills Contest, and to explore the relationship between competition anxiety, resilience and results,in an attempt to provide theoretical guidance for the psychological training of contestants. This research is divided into two parts: The first part is to compile the contest anxiety questionnaire for the skill contestants. The initial version of the competition anxiety questionnaire consisted of 21 questions. After exploratory factor analysis, the questionnaire retained 17 questions and obtained three factors, named cognitive representation, physiological arousal, and emotional experience. The confirmatory factor analysis reached the model fitness index. After the reliability validity test, the overall internal consistency reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.83,and the structural validity was good.It shows that the contest anxiety questionnaire of skill contestants has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a measurement tool to measure contest anxiety and follow-up research of contestants. The second part is a quantitative research on the current situation of competition anxiety, resilience and the relationship with results of the 45 th World Skills Contestants through descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The results of the study found that:(1)the 45 th World Skills Contest Chinese athletes’ competition anxiety is at a moderately low level, and the level of cognitive anxiety is higher in dimensions. There is no significant difference in the total score of race anxiety and the scores of each dimension in terms of gender and different project categories.(2)The resilience of Chinese players in the 45 th World Skills Contest is at a relatively high level. There is no significant difference in gender and project categories in the total scores and dimensions of resilience.(3)There is a significant negativecorrelation between competition anxiety and results.Competition anxiety has a negative predictive effect on results, and only cognitive representations have predictive power in terms of dimensions.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between tenacity and competition results.Resilience has a positive predictive effect on competition results.(5)Resilience plays a full mediating role between competition anxiety and competition performance. Finally, based on the results of this study, three suggestions are put forward: first, anxiety has a greater impact on players, helping players adjust their cognition to ease anxiety;second,in order to improve the resilience of players during training and competition, third, the psychological quality of the players is significantly related to the results of the competition. We must attach importance to the psychological training of players in the World Skills Competition. |
