Comparing the twelve versions of paratext and the four versions of text of Great Changes in a Mountain Village,and adopting linear contrast strategy to research the changes exhaustively.Running the concept of Generalized Rhetoric,Image Rhetoric,Visual Grammar to observe the rhetorical meaning behind the reconstruction.In the part of the paratext reconstruction,this chapter tries to analyze the rhetorical intentions behind the reconstruction of color,pattern,composition line,perspective distance,white space and so on,from the points of cover designs,illustrations,explanatory notes,publication notes and appendices.It finds out that the design colors change from green to red,the design patterns change from rural to political.[+Delight]reconstruction of illustrations makes the ideographic clearer,the narrative style lighter,the information abundant.It proves that the theme of novel changes from literature to political propaganda to red classics,for the development of policies and readers' aesthetic.In the part of text reconstruction,the beautified of fictitious character image and the desensitized narrative reflect in both the beautified cadre image,which includes physiology,psychology,behavior,ideology,and the positive transformation of the mass image.In combination with paratext,this chapter tries to extract further information from their similarities,which find out that the characteristics of gender politics and the disappear of superstitious ideas.It proves that the purpose of reconstruction is to create the figures accepted by the political aesthetics and to construct the rhetorical context in the political movement.It further confirms that textual feature contains broad symbolic resources.
