Ecological Marxist Discourse Translation Based On Eco-critical Discourse Analysis: A Case Study Of Facing The Anthropocene

Eco-critical discourse analysis is an important component of ecolinguistics and an extension of traditional critical discourse analysis,providing a new perspective for discourse analysis.Eco-critical discourse analysis applies the theory of ecolinguistics to critical discourse analysis and aims to highlight ecological consciousness and non-ecological consciousness in language.At present,eco-critical discourse analysis is mainly used to analyze the texts of political report,green advertising and ecotourism.However,few scholars use eco-critical discourse analysis to study translation,especially the translation of ecological Marxist discourse,which should be further developed.Translation process can reflect translators' subjectivity and the dynamic process can highlight ecological consciousness.How to expose non-ecological consciousness of the text by using some appropriate translation strategies is also a problem worth discussing.Based on my translation project,this research report takes part chapters of an ecological Marxist academic monograph as examples.Guided by eco-critical discourse analysis,the study newly examines the language used in ecological texts,use typical examples to analyze and categorize the non-ecological factors in the ecological texts,propose some translation norms used to translate ecological and nonecological factors and explore the translation methods of these categories guided by these norms.From the perspective of eco-critical discourse analysis,the paper proposes some translation norms,the ecological views on translation.The source language includes both ecological and non-ecological factors.High-frequency ecological factors are mainly reflected as metaphor.Based on our ecological views on translation,translators should use the method of literal translation,with maximal preservation of ecological factors.While non-ecological factors mainly include grammatical metaphor,passive voice and inanimate subject.Based on the translation norms,in terms of grammatical metaphor and passive voice,translators should use the translation methods of manifestation and amplification.In terms of inanimate subject,translators should use the methods of addition to highlight the hidden non-ecological consciousness.In brief,we should adopt these methods to make readers have the ability to identify non-ecological factors in ecological discourse and a correct understanding of the relationship between human beings and natural environment.The study can help readers develop their ecological consciousness,improve their ability to identify non-ecological factors and establish a correct ecological view,as well as provide a reference for improving translation quality from ecological perspective.
