| Fossil capitalism has not only widened the gap between the rich and the poor of countries and social classes, but has also had an irreversible impact on the global ecosystem. As the global ecological and environmental problems caused by human activities are increasingly prominent,it is now urgent to establish new ecological balance in the "Anthropocene" to save mankind and earth’s ecosystem.Eco-linguistics is an emerging interdisciplinary subject that studies the interaction between language and environment. The ecological features of language are one of its research priorities.Since human thoughts are influenced by language, the ecological characteristics of language can guide the formation of a correct ecological view, thus achieving a positive interaction between "language" and "ecology".This translation project is two chapters from Facing the Anthropocene—Fossil Capitalism and the Crisis of the Earth System.Drawing on ecolinguistics,it explores the translation of ecological features in the source text. The translator follows the translation criteria that conform to the ecological view:to discover the ecological features in the source language and to manifest the ecological consciousness of the target language, with the aim of helping readers understand the essence of ecological Marxist discourse and to reflect on humans’position of the global ecosystem. This study finds that for the ecological characteristics embodied in personification, the translator should use free translation, transliteration and supplementation,to select the appropriate Chinese expression for the original rhetoric. For metaphor, metonymy and parallelism, the translator should use literal translation to faithfully convey the ecological concept embodied in the original text. The author focus on the ecological characteristics implied in language when translating ecological Marxist discourses. The translator should not only ensure the translation quality, but also try to reproduce the ecological factors in the original text and take the social responsibility for natural environment and ecological balance. |
