| Qian Daxin,an academic master in the Emperor Qianlong period of qing dynasty, was born in the Jiading,Jiangsu province. He was known by the nominal name of "a generation of Confucian scholars",with the courtesy name Xiaozheng and Jizhi, also known as Hsin mei. Some of the previous studies on Qian Daxin were vague discussions about his life, while others were one-sided.Speaking of Qian Daxin’s calligraphy, what we see most of the time is his large collection of tablet rubbings. Therefore, most scholars think that Qian Daxin only has in-depth research on the study of stele theory, and think his views on calligraphy is one-sided and limited form this perspective. However, the author believes that this is not true in the light of study of his life and the whole career of studying calligraphy.Qian Daxin’s academic career can be described as "unbiased, rigorous and realistic".His academic thought originated from his father’s cultivation of his dialectical thinking when he was young. This mind-set has been applied to every stage of his life.During his lifetime,he was both a great scholar and an official of the imperial court, which meant that he paid attention to current politics but also longed for reclusive rural life at the same time.As a scholar,Qian Daxin would never favor the views of any one group or expert when conducting academic research. As a scholar of Qianjia school,he gave different degrees of praise and criticism to the Wu school and Wan school. As a scholar of calligraphy,Qian Daxin studied a wide variety of many different groups and learned ancient and modern knowledge.Careful study found that Qian Daxin’s love for calligraphy is not only the collection of rubbing of Epigraphy.Contrary to what previous scholars have said, his Calligraphic point of view is not limited to the aesthetic of epigraph. In addition to visiting monuments traces for study,Da Xin often communicated with famous calligraphers at that time, and collected the calligraphy of famous calligraphers for in-depth research, copying and learning, and on this basis formed his unique calligraphy aesthetics and style(advocating the simple texture, paying attention to the strength of writing, emphasizing the comely style).Although there was no thoughts of "the combination of tablet and post" in the Qianjia period that the Pu school was very popular,Qian Daxin’s calligraphic view not only had the character of tablet, but also had the flavor of post, which is in the leading level of that time.Qian Daxin’s view of calligraphy influenced his nephew Qian Dian directly.Qian Dian was called "the first person of seal script" in qing dynasty. His seal script was strict and mellow, elegant and dynamic, which was opposite to the most popular calligraphic style of stele theory at that time, and created a new trend of calligraphy.Later, this trend of thought of calligraphy even influenced a group of famous calligraphers learning seal characters, such as Wu Rangzhi,Deng Shiru, who emphasized the rich skills in seal script writing and the artistical effect of writing using the Chinese brushes and ink. This enriched the styles of seal script greatly, and this has great influence until today, which is difficult to surpass.Today,we still continue to benefit from the good knowledge handed down by the great ancient calligraphers in our process of learning seal script, but seldom think of that inaugurator ——Qian Daxin.Qian Daxin had a long and profound influence on the development of calligraphy.Under this influence,I explored various schools of calligraphy, enhanced my artistic attainments with knowledge, improved my inner and outer cultivation simultaneously, tried to combine tablet and post, and also paid attention to both content and form.During the study of calligraphy learning, his academic thoughts and thoughts on calligraphy enriched my thinking and broadened my horizon, which provided me with a steady supply of nutrients for each bottleneck period in learning calligraphy, and made me full of confidence and forge ahead on this road. And my graduation piece is also based on the study of Qian Daxin.Under this study,I paid more attention to the origin of learning calligraphy, combination of tablet and post, and improve the various artistic cultivation related to calligraphy. It is the strong support of these three factor that makes me complete a satisfying graduation piece. |
