Abstract/Summary:
After the Warring States Period,where wars are frequent,the society in the Edo period was peaceful,and it was called the most peaceful era in Japanese history.The stable social environment allows people to live and work in peace.Book reading is gradually emerging.Reading is no longer a privilege of nobility.It has gradually entered thousands of households.Japan is therefore known as the country with the highest literacy rate at that time.This article is limited to the Edo period,and attempts to analyze Japan’s social outlook and analyze the cultural origin of Japan’s modernization through the study of the reading status in Japan.The first part is the social background of the reading revolution in the Edo period.It mainly analyzes the social environment,economic foundation and reading needs of Japan.A stable and peaceful social environment allows people to live and work in peace and promote the development of the commodity economy."Ignorance" cannot meet the needs of daily life.Literacy has become a top priority.Under this circumstance,the folk education has gradually flourished.More and more people have entered the "Terakoya" to study,and the demand for books has greatly increased.The development of the commodity economy has made people have a part of their surplus money,their leisure time has also increased compared with before,and people can also afford to read books such as books as a pastime.In addition,Edo Japan closed its doors and closed its country,but it remained in Nagasaki as a port of foreign exchange.Communication between Japan and China began during the Han Dynasty,and it still existed during the Edo period.The Dutch are the only Westerners allowed to enter and leave Japan.Through contacts and exchanges in Nagasaki,Western scientific and cultural knowledge has been continuously introduced into Japan.In the Edo period,"Ranaku not only covered many fields of science,technology and social thought,but also had a large scale.In this way,the influx of foreign books also greatly increased the number of books in Edo Japan.The second part is the status of book reading.Although book reading was popularized in Japan during the Edo period,the bibliography for reading differed by class.This part first analyzes the types of books read by all walks of life,and then analyzes the collection of a rural merchant Mita family in the Edo period.These books cover almost all fields of knowledge and are diverse in variety.Secondly,the flow of books in the commodity market is studied,through the description ofbooksellers,dealers and the book market perspective of the current flow of books.Thirdly,Japanese education flourished in edo.Both samurai education and civilian education developed,and textbooks also reflected the reading status of books at that time.Chinese books such as classics and history subsets,as well as practical books such as calligraphy and arithmetic are included in them,reflecting a kind of practicability.Finally,the characteristics of the book reading at this time are analyzed and summarized.The third part is the influence of reading books.First of all,the most intuitive impact of book reading is the development of the economy,which led to the development and prosperity of a number of booksellers,printing industry.Secondly,reading promoted the prosperity of learning,zhu zi school,ancient school and other schools in the edo period issued brilliant.Again,reading books makes all kinds of subaltern culture flowers,whether it is given priority to with pictures of the text is complementary grass seed,realistic rendering,social customs on this,or a joke funny comic book in daily life,describing relationships-particularly those founded favor this,or poetic justice class books are left a part of a cultural history in Japan.Finally,the book is the ladder of human progress,because reading books can make people broaden their horizons and learn more new things,the Japanese people are increasingly dissatisfied with the edo government,thus laying the groundwork for the overthrow of the shogunate,Meiji restoration.
