The lagging development of education is the main cause of poverty in rural areas. In order to implement the targeted poverty alleviation work,it is necessary to strengthen the investment in rural primary and secondary education. In order to develop rural education,it is necessary to increase investment in education, change traditional concepts, support the construction of rural teachers,do a good job in education in poor areas,so that every rural child can receive a fair and qualified education, and then effectively prevent the inter-generational transmission of poverty. In this context, chapter two, chapter three and chapter five of Class,Culture and Belonging in Rural Childhoods by Rose Butler are selected as the translation source texts.Based on a long-term ethnographic study of rural Australia, the book finds that children use moral values based on class differences and an understanding of racism and sexuality to solve the problem of economic difficulties and insecurity.Through the interviews with different children, their parents and teachers,we can explore their senses of belonging and cultural identity in the polarized economic environment. This translation report firstly describes the translation task, introduces the relevant background and significance of the task;secondly,it clarifies the source of and main content of the text and the writing characteristics;the whole translation practice is mainly discussed from three aspects: pre-translation,translation process and proofreading after translation;and the Catford's category shifts theory is selected as the theoretical basis, which is and fully combines with the source text. This paper analyzes the translation strategies of part of speech, words shifting, phrases and sentences shifting, voice and pre and post attributive shifting respectively from three perspectives: class shift, unit shift and structure shift. In this report,Catford's translation shift theory is fully used for text content analysis and translation process guidance, and summarizes the translation strategies and methods of social science and education texts, hoping to provide a reference for the translation of such texts. It also hopes to provide some new ideas and reference forthe current development of rural education, rural children and education equity.
