The phenomenon of re combination of images is reflected in the creation of artists in many periods. The repetition of images in different works is not only the preference of artists, but also has a connection with social culture. When we explore the meaning of an image,we can’t get around the research context of iconology, because since the birth of iconology in the early 20 th century, its goal is to study the relationship between image and symbolic custom, image and text. But the purpose of this paper is to try to interpret the symbolic relationship between images, which will give us some inspiration in our art practice, because only by understanding the inner meaning of images can we create images that have meaning. In essence, the study of the difference in symbolic meaning of image recombining does not depart from the category of iconology, but attempts to find a new perspective on the symbolic meaning of image through the phenomenon. In this paper, according to the development history of image source,it is divided into three stages. In the first stage, religious scriptures and symbolic traditions are used as image sources;in the second stage, personal symbols and social cultural symbols are used as image sources;in the third stage, the social landscape under the contemporary "image turn" is used as image sources. And in the specific chapters,it discusses the causes of the same objects and different symbolic meanings in these three periods. In terms of structure, this paper consists of four parts. The first part, starting with the works of three seals by Durer, interprets the works from the perspective of traditional iconology, and studies how the source of symbols in the original Scripture causes the same objects and different symbolic meanings. The second part, taking two groups of works of Munk as examples, interprets the symbolic difference between self symbol and cultural symbol as metaphor and re combination of images after modernism. In the third part, because of the "image turn" of contemporary iconology, the logic and source of images have changed essentially. This chapter takes pop art as a starting point to explore the symbolic differences of the re combination of objects and images under the contemporary "turning in images".The fourth part, based on the above viewpoints and conclusions, combined with his own creation practice, attempts to apply the symbolic differences of re combination of objects and images in the specific artistic creation. In this paper, the conclusion and creative practice to find a point of convergence. |
