| <General high school English curriculum standards(2017 edition)> put forwards :“According to the requirements on extracurricular audiovisual activities and extracurricular reading amount of optional and compulsory courses,teachers should guide students to combine in-class learning with extracurricular learning,and ensure that the average extracurricular reading amount in compulsory courses is no less than1,500 words and no less than 45,000 words per week.At the same time,during the elective period,the weekly extracurricular audio-visual activities should not be less than40 minutes,and the weekly extracurricular reading amount should not be less than2,500 words,and the total amount should not be less than 100,000 words.In the curriculum standards course,it is required for high school students to understand and appreciate some excellent English literary works(comedy,poetry,novels,etc.)in the elective stage.From the implication and beauty of the work to obtain a positive attitude towards life and value enlightenment.The author thinks that teachers should guide high school students to read extensively,especially the original works of English literature.By reading the original works of English literature,high school students can learn profound contents such as culture and values contained in the original works of English literature,appreciate the meaning and beauty of language and multi-modal discourse,enrich life experience,experience different emotions,and establish a correct world view,outlook on life and values.Therefore,it is necessary for high school students to deeply read the original works of English literature,appreciate the characteristics of English literature and understand the knowledge of English language and culture.Based on the requirements of the course standard,the author tries to explore the teaching mode of English literature reading class,and applies the teaching of English literature reading to the reading class of the second year of senior high school.The experimental class adopts English literature reading teaching,while the control class adopts the special English reading training commonly used by teachers.The author conducted interviews with 10 front-line teachers in English literature reading teaching,and found that the effectiveness of English literature reading classes in high schools is not very high and the effect is not satisfactory.At the same time,under the background of carrying out quality-oriented education,the students of Chongqing Chaoyang High School were investigated on the status quo of English literature reading,and the basic information of students’ attitude,interest and motivation to English literature reading was learned.After that,the author conducted in-depth research by means of questionnaire survey,interview and reading comprehension test.Under the guidance of Krashen(2003)input hypothesis theory,humanism theory and constructivism theory,two research questions are put forward: one is how English teachers carry out English literature reading teaching in the process of high school English teaching.The other is what aspects of English literature reading teaching practice have improved students’ reading literacy?The purpose of this study is to investigate whether English literature reading can effectively improve reading teaching in high school English classes.This research verifies the effectiveness of English literature reading and promotes the correct use of English literature reading teaching strategies in high school English reading classes.Through the analysis and discussion of the collected reading test data,questionnaire data and interview information before and after the experimental class and the control class,the author finds that the English literature reading teaching is conducive to the improvement of high school students’ English reading quality,including reading ability and reading character.For example,English literature reading teaching can improve students’ reading speed and performance,stimulate their interest in reading,and change their negative attitude towards English literature reading.In addition,the teaching of English literature reading also promotes the improvement of students’ comprehensive English ability.At the same time,the author also reflects on some shortcomings in the process of the experiment. |
